Want to celebrate that special occasion, wedding anniversary or landmark birthday?  Then you must invite your friends and relatives.  Send out invitations in plenty of time to ensure as many people as possible will be able to attend.  Always ask for a RSVP so you know beforehand how many people to cater for.  To keep costs down, add "Bring a Bottle" to the end of the invite.  For children's parties, consider a theme or fancy dress.  Don't be too extreme or you might put people off, keep it simple so costumes can be made or purchased easily.
